Senior Platform Engineer
Location: Onsite, full time at our Buyerlink Office right on the Inner Harbour of Victoria, BC!
About the role
BuyerLink runs a marketplace and a portfolio of consumer properties on Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, with a small amount of legacy workload still on AWS. We are hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to join the team that builds and runs those environments.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role. You will work alongside our two platform engineers in Armenia and with product engineering teams in North America, Guatemala, and Ukraine. The surface area is wide and the work you do is visible quickly. We are looking for someone who wants to join a team and contribute at a senior level day to day, not someone waiting for the work to be handed down.
What you will work on
- Cloud environments across Google Cloud and Azure: projects and subscriptions, networking, identity and access, and the shared services our applications depend on.
- Infrastructure as code in Terraform. Extending what exists, bringing manually provisioned resources under code, and contributing to the standards the team works to.
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling, and the environment provisioning that product teams build against.
- Production operations: environment reliability, incident response, and the runbooks and automation that keep routine work from becoming manual work.
- Our remaining AWS legacy footprint and its eventual consolidation onto our primary platforms.
- Cloud cost visibility and the practical side of keeping spend aligned to our enterprise commitments.
- AI-assisted operations: evaluating and running the agentic tooling our cloud platforms now ship, and putting agent-generated infrastructure code through the same review and controls as anything a person writes.
How the team works
Our two platform engineers are based in Armenia and this role works directly with them. Work is divided across time zones by agreement rather than by hierarchy, and the expectation is that you contribute at a senior level to architecture and technical decisions we make together.
Follow-the-sun coverage is an operational advantage for us rather than a complication, and strengthening it is part of why we are adding this role. You will share an on-call rotation with the Armenia team, with a real handoff at each end rather than a pager that never stops.
A few things are explicitly not yours to carry. Security posture and vulnerability findings are owned elsewhere; you will execute remediation, not define the program. Application-level agentic development tooling sits with the product engineering teams. Azure infrastructure is currently supported by a managed services partner, and bringing more of it in house is a possibility rather than a commitment.
What we are looking for
- Five or more years in platform, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, or SRE roles, with meaningful production ownership.
- Strong hands-on Google Cloud or Azure. Depth in one and working competence in the other is a fine profile; we will not find someone equally expert in both.
- Terraform in production, not just in a tutorial. You have managed state, handled drift, and structured modules that other people use.
- The judgment to review infrastructure code you did not write, including code generated by an agent. Reading a plan and knowing what it will actually do matters more here than typing speed.
- Comfortable in code. Python, Go, Bash, or similar for tooling and automation, with the habits that go with it: version control, review, and testing applied to infrastructure the same way as to software.
- Containers and orchestration, CI/CD systems, and Linux fundamentals.
- A track record of working effectively with engineers in other countries and time zones.
- Clear written communication. Distributed work runs on writing things down.
Nice to have
- AWS experience, particularly migrating workloads off it.
- Networking and CDN work at the edge, including Cloudflare.
- Experience in an environment where platform work is measured on what product teams can ship.
Why work with us?
This is a rare platform role where the work is both strategic and immediately practical. At BuyerLink, you will help run real customer-facing systems, shape how our cloud environments mature, and see the impact of your decisions quickly because the team is small, senior, and close to the business. You will work across Google Cloud, Azure, Terraform, CI/CD, reliability, cost visibility, and AI-assisted infrastructure tooling—not as a narrow ticket-taker, but as a trusted engineer with room to influence how the platform evolves. If you like meaningful ownership, strong distributed collaboration, and infrastructure work that directly helps product teams move faster, this is an awesome place to do it.
